The Birthday Party

stigma unbound

Stigma Unbound is an arts collective based in Brooklyn, New York, that was organized to create a platform, provide resources, and build a safe communal space for the artistic expression of sex workers. Our collective works intersectionality with people of color, queer, trans, and gender non-conforming people and their allies to produce events where sex workers are leading the discourse around issues that are important to them. We include “sex workers and allies” as a strategy to build a wider community, and to provide possible cover for community members who want to participate without outing their sex worker status. Stigma Unbound is celebrating its first birthday with a group exhibition of visual art. More than 20 sex worker and ally artists will be showing work in media including painting, illustration, photography, and sculpture. Works will be on sale, and a portion of the profits from sales of art will go towards supporting Stigma Unbound's continuing mission of programming art events by and for the sex working community.
